Founded in 2021 by GRAMMY winning and 8x nominated mastering engineer Emily Lazar, We Are Moving The Needle empowers women, non-binary, and trans tech creators to succeed at the highest levels. WAMTN is among the few non-profits in the music industry that explicitly includes non-binary and trans identities in our work to promote gender equity.
We Are Moving The Needle is building a movement of partners—from performing and technical artists to corporate leaders to educators—dedicated to amplifying women and underrepresented identities in the field. Together, we are moving the needle.
We Are Moving The Needle will work to close the gender gap and bring equity and inclusion to the present recording industry as well as guarantee growth and progress for the generations to come by awarding applicants with:
Scholarships and grants to music technology and recording programs at Academies, Colleges and Universities
Educational programming
Donated recording equipment including software, hardware and other technologies
Support from our mentorship program with access to the members of our “SoundBoard”
Dedicated internships and entry level positions designated and reserved for our award recipients and applicants
